Gateway to the Upper Savinja Valley

The Savinja Valley opens up before you as nature’s perfect playground. Less than an hour’s drive separates you from
the most beautiful Alpine valleys, mighty waterfalls, welcoming farms and historic towns.

Mozirje

A town you'll want to stay in

Mozirje welcomes you with the warmth of a small town in the Upper Savinja Valley, where a rich cultural heritage blends with the calm flow of the River Savinja. In the old market square, stories of the past still echo in brick and timber, while the imposing Church of St George has proudly watched over the town and its peaceful rhythm for centuries.

Historic market town

The old market square and walks around it

Mozirje is proud to be one of the oldest market towns in Styria, first appearing in written records as early as 1146. Its importance was confirmed in 1318 when it was formally granted market rights, although references to its “ancient rights” point to even deeper roots than the surviving sources can show. In 1581 the town received its first coat of arms, granted by Archduke Charles, and it remains the town’s symbol to this day.

At the very heart of this historic setting, at Na trgu 32, Hostel Lesnika welcomes you. Our location lets you literally live amid seven centuries of history: the Mozirje and Mozirjani museum collection is less than two minutes’ walk away. Get to know the pulse of the town and its people right where the past and the present meet most beautifully.
